2025 paddle to the Thames Maunsell Forts ( Red Sands Forts)

Friday 15th August, a group of paddlers from Chiswick Pier Canoe Club joined Wight Expeditions for a round trip to the Second World War Thames estuary forts. New scheduled passenger boat service at Chiswick Pier

Chiswick Pier is now an official river stop point on the regular scheduled public passenger boat return service between Westminster Pier and Hampton Court Palace.  The service is provided by Thames River Boats and runs between Easter and October every year.  The boats are the Cockney Sparrow or the Connaught. Weir and Moving Water Training

Coaches Jane Wyndham Smith and Ian Bowdtich, from Thames Paddle-boarding, ran two ‘moving water skills development’ sessions.  Each session focused on how to read the water around weirs and practice effective paddling techniques on moving water. Medical Aid for Palestine

On Tuesday 3rd June some of our paddlers provided support for Neil, who paddled from Oxford to Westminster fund-raising for Medical Aid for Palestinians. Belinda met him with warm drinks and cake before he got to Chiswick Pier. Where he picked up a couple of our paddlers who accompanied him into central London, for the final part of his journey. Dartmouth, Sea Kayak Skills Progression

Last weekend four of our members joined Wight Expeditions at Dartmouth to progress our sea kayaking skills. Journeying, leadership, group management, surfing and incident management skills were covered over three days of spectacular sea kayaking. Amazingly close encounters with friendly seals and even closer encounters with rocks, gulleys and caves. The most stunning sea kayaking experience. River Thames Boat Trip on the Golden Salamander

Friday 25 April 2025 saw the first Chiswick Pier Canoe Club Thames Boat Trip, leaving from the Pier to Tower Bridge, return. We were joined by members of Putney Canoe Club, Kayakers from the swim safety organisation, coaches we have a close relationship with from previous training sessions and importantly family and friends.
