Friday 25 April 2025 saw the first Chiswick Pier Canoe Club Thames Boat Trip, leaving from the Pier to Tower Bridge, return.
We were joined by members of Putney Canoe Club, Kayakers from the swim safety organisation, coaches we have a close relationship with from previous training sessions and importantly family and friends. It was an excellent opportunity to meet others who share our stretch of the river and catch up in a relaxed environment.
The weather was kind. Clear blue skies and a beautiful sunset allowed us to make the most of the outbound trip. Whilst the return journey was spectacularly lit by the iconic buildings of the London skyline.

Food was provided, buffet style, by our own members and the standard was remarkable. The breadth of food styles represented the diversity of those in the club and it was a truly international buffet, which could have easily fed twice our number.

Staff of the Golden Salamander could not have been more welcoming and helpful. It was lovely to get to know them a little better as we share the pontoon space at Chiswick Pier with them. They provided an exceptionally friendly service, with a special shout out to the bar staff, who were kept busy throughout.
All seventy passengers that left the pier returned safely, disembarked and wobbled off into the night, well fed and watered and with great memories of a London Thames Boat Trip.
