The winter sea kayak skills went ahead from September 2025 to January 2026 and a new set have been organised and posted on the calendar, the dates are:
February 7/8 Isle of Wight crossing
March 14/15 Location TBC
April 11/12 Location TBC
May 2/3/4 – Pembrokeshire
Continuing this training through the winter, in ever increasing conditions, has helped steadily improve confidence and skills at sea and in river conditions.
The weekends have included training and coaching in navigation, incident management, rescue and self rescue in conditions, rock hopping and rescues from shorelines and rocks, towing, surfing and some boat repairs.
We have encountered some spectacular weather, amazing scenery, wildlife and a couple of broken (and repaired) boats.
We did forego camping on “some” of the weekends in favour of a warm and dry hotel room, but the February trip sees us back to tents and beaches. It’s going to be wet, very wet.
Space is still available on the 2026 trips.
